In an attempt to address the many issues raised about the National Health Insurance (NHI) during public hearing, the minister of health Dr Mkhize held a 4 days (02/03/2020 to 05/03/2020) workshop which involved gathering between expert groups. This gathering was aimed at addressing all the concerns raised during public hearings, media reports and those sent directly to the department of health. The workshop aimed at:
- Set a roadmap for a targeted implementation of the NHI
- Address some of the thorny areas and get answers on a way forward. This issues among others include flexibility and a tactical management for both the private sector and business sector
- Negotiate on areas that are open for negotiation.
